Getting Social in Downtown Kingsville

There’s something special about walking through Downtown Kingsville when the streets are closed to traffic. On Saturday, August 29, we got to experience exactly that during the first Downtown Social of 2026.

From 6:00 to 10:00 pm, Main and Division Streets were filled with shops staying open late, live music, busy patios, and little things to stop and check out along the way. It was an easy evening to wander without much of a plan.

Start with a Little Shopping

We started by wandering through some of the downtown shops, taking our time and seeing what caught our eye.

With the stores open later for the evening, there was no need to rush from one place to the next. We could pop inside, browse for a while, and then head back out onto the street to see what was happening next.

That’s one of our favourite things about exploring downtown Kingsville. You can come with something specific in mind, or you can simply stroll and see what you find. There are plenty of local shops to explore. If you’re visiting Kingsville, we’d definitely recommend leaving yourself some time to explore Main Street and see what’s inside the storefronts.

Looking for some seasonal fashion pieces? Stop in at Towne Emporium or Windblown and Weathered Studio. A unique piece of jewelry, decor or pottery? You’ll want to visit The Local Maker.

Follow the Music

Emily Staley, The Fontaines, and Denver Bohdal were part of the evening’s live entertainment lineup, and we found ourselves stopping to listen more than once as we made our way around.

We especially liked that the music wasn’t something you had to sit down and watch from beginning to end. You could hear it while walking down the street, stop for a song, grab a drink, and keep exploring.

There was also a singer-songwriter circle happening during the evening, which gave us another chance to listen to some local musicians. It added a really nice soundtrack to the evening, the kind where you could hear music playing from one part of downtown to another.

Grab a Drink and Stay for Dinner

The patios were definitely busy, and it was easy to see why. With the warm August weather and the streets open for the event, restaurants had people sitting outside, enjoying dinner and drinks while watching everything happening around them.

We loved being able to walk around for a while and then find somewhere to sit down and take a break. It made the evening feel very relaxed. There was no need to hurry through dinner and move on to the next thing. We stopped for drinks at The Banded Goose, dinner at El Diablo, and dessert at Mari’s Artisan Gelato and Paletta – Highly recommend taking your own little food trip from place to place! And if you plan to bring your furry friend so many others did as well. Several patios in town are pet friendly, which makes a great night for your pet too.

If you’re visiting Kingsville, this is one of the easiest ways to enjoy downtown.

You Never Know What You'll Find

One of the things we enjoyed most about the evening was that there was always something else to see. As we walked around, we came across caricature artists, a community canvas, and different activities happening along the streets. There were even fire pits where you could make your own s’mores.

It made the evening feel easy. You didn’t need a detailed plan. You could simply walk around, follow whatever caught your attention, and enjoy the little surprises along the way.

The Best of Summer in One Place

Our evening at the Downtown Social was a great reminder that sometimes the best way to experience Kingsville is to slow down and wander.

Do a little shopping. Stop for drinks, dinner and dessert. And leave a little room in your evening for something you didn’t plan on. We’re hoping this was just the beginning and that Downtown Social returns next summer!

It’s in Kingsville. You’ll see…
